⚬ Description ⚬

This is an archival print of the original collage. Fits standard 11” x 14” frame.
The original piece was cut and pasted by hand from collection of used and vintage books.

This collage dispels stigmas by redefining what anime art and collage art can be. Selina created it with the intention of reliving her fondest childhood memories and elevating it to capture the transformation from childhood to adulthood.

Children tend to relate to characters that are brave, kind, and funny. However, they don't relate as well to characters that are exclusively “good”. They need to be flawed to an extent to be fully relatable. This makes Sailor Moon a fantastic role model.

Sailor Moon is a goofy, frightened and reluctant girl often in need of help. She had so many relatable traits and interests, including cute boys and food. But a big part of what makes her so relatable to Selina is her core, a feminine character with full of love and hope in humanity.

This collage not only is a good example of juxtaposition and physical movement in a work of art, portraying the movement of Sailor Moon spinning, but also moving the viewer's eyes through it.
